WHY SKIN CAMOUFLAGE?
· What products are used?
The various camouflage brands available have different ingredients.
All camouflage products available in Great Britain meet the EU Cosmetic Products (Safety) Regulations 2008 (as amended from 1996). Those brands currently available within the NHS have also been accepted by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). Some brands may also meet the USA’s Federal Food, Drug & Cosmetic Administration (FDCA) requirements. Ingredients must be displayed on the packaging; products must display their shelf life or “use before” date too.
We are not aware of any confirmed allergy to the products, but there is always the possibility that you could experience an unexpected allergic reaction to an ingredient. If this happens we recommend you stop using it until a clinical patch test identifies the cause.
We understand people will go to great lengths and expense, anything “to make it better” be cautious – sometimes products may not match advertising claims.
Brands used by our trained consultants within the NHS may be prescribed in line with local funding agreements. You can also order these from local pharmacies and internet distributors directly.
Our trained consultants may also use other products which are available over the counter and on the internet only.
Whilst BASC do not endorse or sell any products
thus ensuring total and impartial advice,
current brands accepted by the MHRA are : Covermark, Dermacolor, Keromask and Veil
